Last Epoch is a must play ARPG for fans of the genre, and can be considered an excellent starting point for newcomers.
PC Invasion: 7.8 / 10 by Thomas Cunliffe
Last Epoch delivers an innovative ARPG experience with exceptional build customization and accessible crafting, bolstered by its refreshing time travel mechanic. However, a weak narrative, limited character customization, and a repetitive endgame loop somewhat hold it back.
Rock, Paper, Shotgun: by Alice Bell
Last Epoch is a worthy mid-point ARPG that has fun with its fantasy time travelling world, and makes crafting and building towards percentage point increases actually rewarding. Even fun!
The main pros of the game
- Character Customization: Players appreciate the extensive build variety and skill tree customization, allowing for unique character builds and playstyles. The ability to respect skills and experiment is a significant plus.
- Crafting System: The crafting mechanics are praised for being engaging and providing a sense of control over itemization, with many players enjoying the deterministic crafting aspects.
- Gameplay Experience: Many reviewers find the combat satisfying and challenging without being overly complicated. The game strikes a balance between accessibility and depth, making it enjoyable for both new and veteran players.
- No Pay-to-Win Mechanics: The game does not feature mechanics that give players advantages for spending money, which is appreciated by users.
- Developer Engagement: The developers are noted for being active in the community, listening to player feedback, and regularly updating the game.
The main cons of the game
- Endgame Content: A common complaint is that the endgame can become monotonous and grindy, with some players finding it less engaging than expected. The lack of variety in endgame activities is a recurring issue.
- Performance Issues: Many users report significant performance problems, including frame rate drops and bugs, which hinder the overall experience. Some players have mentioned crashes and connectivity issues, especially in multiplayer modes.
- Story and Campaign: The narrative is often described as weak or disjointed, with some players feeling the campaign is tedious and lacking depth.
- Difficulty Balance: Some players feel that the game can be either too easy or too punishing, particularly in terms of boss mechanics that can feel unfair or frustrating.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- More Engaging Endgame Activities: Reviewers suggest a need for additional variety in endgame content to keep players engaged beyond the initial playthrough.
- Better Performance Optimization: Many players express a desire for improved optimization to enhance gameplay stability and performance, especially on high-end systems.
- Expanded Class Diversity: Some users mention a lack of diversity among subclasses and feel that certain builds are less viable in the current meta, leading to a stale experience.
- Cosmetic Customization: There are calls for more character customization options, including appearance changes and transmog systems.
- Improved Storytelling: A more coherent and engaging storyline is desired, as many players find the current narrative lacking.
In summary, Last Epoch has garnered praise for its character customization, crafting system, and engaging gameplay, but it faces criticism for its endgame content, performance issues, and narrative depth. Players hope for improvements in these areas to enhance the overall experience.

Last Epoch Description
Last Epoch is an action RPG developed by independent studio Eleventh Hour Games. The title was developed thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter.
Story
Last Epoch takes us to the fantasy land of Eterra, which is devoured by a dark force called the Void. In order to ensure their survival, its inhabitants hid in an underground city. Fortunately, not everything is lost - the main character, who is one of the survivors, goes in search of the title artifact, which will enable him to travel in time; traversing four different incarnations of Eterra, the hero not only discovers the secrets hidden by the realm but also finds a way to stop the Void.
In addition to the four main epochs (ancient, divine, imperial and ruined), over time we have the opportunity to check out their alternative versions, which we find through the so-called Monolith of Fate so that we can continue the game even after the main plot is completed.
Mechanics
Before start playing in Last Epoch we choose one of the five basic character classes; we have a rogue, wizard, knight, acolyte, and shaman at our disposal. This is not the end of the story as we can choose the so-called master's specialization - thanks to this we can direct the character progression to a path that suits us; for example, a rogue can become a master in the use of melee weapons or an archer, while an acolyte can become a necromancer or battle mage.
There is nothing else left to do but to start the game, during which we observe the action in isometric projection. As we play, we travel through the diverse versions of the land of Eterra and carry out story tasks and side missions, facing hordes of enemies. In addition, we increase the hero's combat potential by unlocking and developing their skills (each of them has an extensive tree of improvements) and statistics, as well as acquiring better and better equipment.
What equipment can be used by heroes is decided by the class of our choice; moreover, individual items can only be found in a particular era - if we want to move them from one era to another, we can use a special cache that exists beyond space-time. Nothing stands in the way of upgrading our arsenal, weapons, and gadgets with the crafting system or getting rid of unnecessary ballast by selling it to vendors.
Game modes
Last Epoch enables us to have fun both solo and with up to four other players, via the Internet or a local network. All of this is complemented by the so-called Cycles, i.e. periodic events in which the devs offer unique tasks and objects.
Technical aspects
Last Epoch features high-quality three-dimensional visuals; the most noteworthy are the special effects associated with casting spells and the use of advanced skills, although we may also like the detailed design of enemy models and the detailed and varied environment.
