Throne and Liberty is an ongoing game, so the story could become more fleshed out, the mechanics you use to interact with the world could become more nuanced, and the technical issues could be fixed. But as it all stands now, it's just an okay way to dip your toe into a relatively console-friendly MMORPG that doesn't demand endless amounts of your time for you to enjoy - although there are better games to play with your precious hours. If you're looking for something deeper than that, though, you won't find it here.

UI issues aside, I have been enjoying my time with Throne and Liberty, and do plan to play more of it post-review.

Throne and Liberty are like many MMOs in terms of their grind, and newer players will usually be daunted by everything they have to keep in mind. Progression is grueling and long-term, requiring a long-term investment to get into the good parts. That or, you can look towards actual investments as the rampant microtransactions make the game a blatant pay-to-win scheme.
The main pros of the game
- Graphics and World Design: The game features stunning visuals and a beautifully crafted open world, which many players appreciate.
- Dynamic Events: There are numerous world events, open-world dungeons, and large-scale PvP opportunities that keep the gameplay engaging.
- Community and Guild Interaction: Many players enjoy the community aspect of the game, particularly the guild systems and cooperative play.
- Combat System: The combat is described as fun and engaging, especially in PvP scenarios where timing and teamwork are crucial.
- Free-to-Play Model: Some players feel that the game can be enjoyed without spending money, as it allows for the acquisition of premium currency through gameplay.
The main cons of the game
- Pay-to-Win Elements: A significant number of players express concerns about the game being heavily pay-to-win, where those who spend money can gain substantial advantages in PvP and progression.
- Grind and Time Gates: Players report excessive grinding, time-gated content, and a lack of meaningful progression, particularly after reaching max level.
- Community Toxicity: Some reviews mention a toxic community, with negative interactions in random groups and guilds.
- Balance Issues: There are complaints about class balance, particularly in PvP, where certain builds dominate, making it difficult for others to compete.
- Bugs and Technical Issues: Several users report bugs, server instability, and problems with the game’s interface, affecting the overall experience.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- More PvE Content: Players desire more engaging and challenging PvE content, particularly for endgame activities, as many feel that PvE quickly becomes repetitive.
- Improved Targeting and Combat Mechanics: Some users want better targeting systems and more fluid combat mechanics to enhance the gameplay experience.
- Better Loot Distribution Systems: There are calls for a more balanced loot distribution system, especially concerning world bosses and dungeons, to prevent monopolization by top guilds.
- Customization Options: Players express a desire for more character customization options and meaningful progression systems that allow for diverse builds.
- Enhanced Communication Tools: Improvements to the in-game chat and communication systems are requested to facilitate better interactions among players.
Summary
- Overall, while "Throne and Liberty" has many appealing aspects, particularly regarding its graphics and community features, significant concerns about monetization, balance, and content depth are prevalent among user reviews.

Throne and Liberty Description
Throne and Liberty is an MMORPG with a turbulent past that has undergone many concept changes during the development process. The game was initially created as a sequel to 1998's Lineage, but was eventually given its own unique character, along with an entirely new storyline.
Plot
The action of Throne and Liberty takes place in a fantasy setting. The antagonist in the game is Kazar, the Phantom of Conquest, awakened from his long sleep by the ambitious Revil Lupius. Together they conquered the Solisium castle and kidnapped Calanthia, a cursed girl. They intend to use her to obtain all the pieces of an ancient artifact that provides unlimited power. As a player, we have to oppose them, traversing the vast land and fighting their offspring.
Builds / character classes
We start the game by creating our own character. We decide about their appearance and initial skills. In Throne and Liberty there are no traditionally understood classes. Instead, we choose the preferred type of weapon in which the hero will specialize: sword with shield, two-handed sword, dagger, crossbow, longbow, wand with spellbook or staff.
Gameplay
We observe the events from a third person perspective. The character we created is very mobile, both during combat and while simply moving around locations. We can run, walk, smoothly jump over obstacles thanks to a simple parkour system, and even pull ourselves with a hook rope to designated points.
The combat is dynamic and based on the character's skills. Depending on how we lead our hero, we fight either in melee, by shooting with a ranged weapon, or using magic. Every weapon has its strengths and weaknesses. For example, a two-handed weapon has a large range and damage, but it attacks slowly. Meanwhile using a shield and sword gives us a defense bonus, but we have less offensive potential. Spells also divide into several types: offensive, defensive, or transformations.
By transforming into the appropriate animal, we can even carry another player on our back and move around in this way. It is also possible to transform into flying and aquatic creatures. A rope with a hook is also useful during clashes: it serves to pull opponents closer to the hero. The creators made sure that there were more of these types of complementary mechanics. If during the rain we start using fire spells, their damage will be weakened, and if we use lightning spells, they will turn into area attacks. Rain can block entrances to some locations, such as low-lying caves, and wind can affect the flight path of arrows.
By exploring locations, defeating enemies and completing quests, we gain new equipment and experience. We can also closely examine some of the acquired items in a special menu and gain additional information about the story this way. Weapons and spells are closely related to the plot, and their special properties serve to tell additional storylines. Each area has its own set of opponents, requiring us to approach the fight differently. They are divided into regular enemies and bosses, with whom we will mainly have to face with the help of other players.
