Our guide to Dragon Age: The Veilguard includes maps of The Grand Necropolis and Necropolis Halls (exploration location). The markers on the map indicate, among others, the location of Emmrich's companion, Main Quests, Side Quests, Companion Quests, Mementos, Quest Items, Codex Entries, Notes, Chests, Timelost Hoard, Beacons, Bosses, Eluvian Gate, Lyrium Dagger, Merchants, and Points of Interest. This is useful knowledge for exploring the Necropolis Halls map in 100%.

On separate pages of the guide you will find interactive maps to the other main locations:

  1. Lighthouse;
  2. Arlathan Forest;
  3. Crossroads;
  4. Treviso;
  5. Dock Town;
  6. Hossberg Wetlands;
  7. Rivain Coast .

First visit to The Grand Necropolis

You will first visit the Necropolis location during the Where the Dead Must Go main quest - this is one of the quests available in chapter 7. You can get to the described place by passing through the appropriate Eluvian Gate in the Crossroads hub.

The aforementioned quest involves recruiting Emmrich, but before the necromancer joins your party you must complete a number of mandatory objectives.

Necropolis Halls

Shortly after completing the Where the Dead Must Go quest you will unlock Necropolis Halls for exploration on the map. From that point on you can travel there using faster travel and use Beacons. In Necropolis Halls you can discover side quests, secrets and collectibles, as well as environmental puzzles.

New companion - Emmrich Volkarin

Emmrich is a necromancer that you can meet during the Where the Dead Must Go quest - after a short introduction you must accompany him to the Necropolis. At the end of the quest you will return to the Lighthouse.

For more information about Emmrich, check out the List of all companions page.

100% map completion

Once you get to the exploration map you can explore the Necropolis Halls. To be found there are:

  1. 17 Chests;
  2. 1 Timelost Hoard.

You can check your progress on the map screen - it appears in the upper left corner.

Beacons and Eluvian Gate

You can find and activate Beacons only after reaching the Necropolis Halls exploration map. Each activated point is used for fast travel, and you can also change the composition of your active party at them.

Thanks to Eluvian Gate you will reach Emmrich's quest location and the main Necropolis map. You go through the gate in the Crossroads hub, and this is a mandatory objective during the main story.

Chests and Timelost Hoard

A much more common find in Necropolis are small chests, which usually contain common loot. We have also marked the rarer Timelost Hoard and large chests on our interactive map - in both cases there is a great chance of more valuable loot.

Lyrium Dagger (Companion Abilities)

Our map shows where you can use the Lyrium Dagger. This previously acquired artifact allows you to activate the abilities of your companions (including those who are not currently in the active party). The main use of the Lyrium Dagger is to unlock or create new passages on the maps.

Shortcuts work similarly - we've marked useful shortcuts that Rook can permanently unlock.

Mementos

There are Mementos collectibles waiting to be found throughout various parts of the Necropolis. You can also buy some of them from merchants.

Each Memento collected guarantees an increase in Caretaker Power. The points can be spent on expanding the Caretaker's Workshop in the Lighthouse.

Points of Interest and Quest Items

Our interactive map will tell you about important and interesting locations in Necropolis Halls - these can be, among others, interactive mechanisms, statues or places to visit during quests.

Additionally, we have marked quest items on the map and these are primarily Wisps, which you will use to activate devices and unlock new passages.

Merchants

On the Necropolis Halls exploration map you can find merchant shops. A faction merchant is among them - it is possible to develop their business and expand their offer with new items.

Different merchants offer different goods and we inform about them in the marker descriptions. Merchants can offer items such as furnishings, decor and appearance items, companion gifts, and Mementos.

Quests

The Grand Necropolis and Necropolis Halls are related mainly to the main quests. There you can also do side quests and companion quests that will improve your relationships with them.

Codex and Notes

Mementos are not the only secrets on the map, as there are also smaller collectibles and we marked them all on the map.

Codex Entries offer an additional reward - experience points. In the case of Notes the purpose is only to familiarize yourself with their content.

Blocked gates

Your party can't go everywhere right away. Some blocked passages may require, for example, finding the right key, turning off a mechanism or reaching a closed door from the other side. You can learn about all of these requirements by reading the descriptions of the markers on our map.
